I'm letting an employee go today in California. When is their final paycheck due?

Today, at the time you let them go. That includes any unused vacation they've earned. Paying late can cost up to 30 days of their wages in penalties.

How it works

From "am I allowed to?" to done, in three steps.

  1. 1

    Tell us about your business

Your state, how many people you employ and what kind of work they do. It takes about a minute, and every answer is tailored to it.

  2. 2

    Ask anything, in plain English

"Can I cut someone's hours?" "Do I have to pay out PTO?" You get a clear answer, the rule it comes from, and a heads-up if the situation is risky.

  3. 3

Get the document and move on

Turn the answer into a ready-to-sign letter, filled in for your state. Download it as Word or PDF.

What you get

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Is this legal advice?

No. hrsupport.io is not a law firm, and nothing on it is legal advice. We explain HR rules in plain English and show you the law or agency guidance each answer comes from. When a situation is high-risk, we say so and suggest a review by an HR professional or an employment lawyer.

Which states do you cover?

At launch: federal law plus California, Texas, Florida, New York and Illinois. More states will follow. Tell us your state when you join the waitlist so we know where to go next.

How is this different from asking ChatGPT?

General chatbots don't know your state, your headcount or this year's rule changes, and they rarely show where an answer comes from. We answer from a curated, regularly updated library of federal and state employment rules, cite the source every time, flag risky situations, and turn the answer into a document you can actually use.

Who is it for?

US businesses with roughly 1 to 50 employees that don’t have a full-time HR person: owners, office managers and operations leads who end up handling HR on top of their real job.

When can I start using it?

We're opening early access in small groups. Join the waitlist and we'll email you when your spot is ready.

What do you do with my email?

We only use it to tell you about early access and the launch. No spam, unsubscribe any time, and we never sell your information.
